Bruno's Father was one of the most powerful people in the beginning of the book. He was living his life in riches and be respected everywhere he went. He did not seem to care very much about anyone or what would happen to them if they did the slightest thing to upset a soldier. At the end of this story this strong man is brought to reality. He understands what it's like. His own son was killed for no reason. All because ehe wore those striped pajamas with the number that signified who they were. Bruno didn't have to die, only if his Father would've told him what goes on over that fence. Father has now come o know that he does not want too live like this anymore, and has come to a very weak point in his life. He may be killed or tortured, but he is weak and guilty for what he has done.

When Bruno puts those striped pajamas on his body he is now considered a Jew in the soldiers eyes. In their eyes he should be tortured and killed. If Bruno left his normal clothes on, the soldiers would approach him as the Commandants son. Because he was in these pajamas his life changed and he was not treated the same. This quote means many different things. I've also heard things like, "you are what you eat". In this case Bruno how now become a Jew and he has made a bad choice. The real lesson is putting yourself into someone else's shoes and seeing how their life goes. You may realize how fortunate you really are.
On the third day, when Bruno arrived there was one no one sitting cross-legged on the ground and he waited for ten minutes and was about to turn back for home, extremely worried that he would have to leave Ou-With without seeing how friend again, when a dot in the distance became a speck and that became a blob and that became a figure and that in turn became the boy in the striped pajamas. page: 119
Bruno broke into a smile when he saw the figure coming towards him and he sat down on the ground, taking the piece of bread and and the apple he had smuggled with him out of this pocket to give to Shmuel. page: 119 I won't have anyone to talk to when you're gone, he added. page:122 Well if that's the case, said Bruno, And if I had a pair of striped pajamas too, then I could come over on a visit and no one would be any wiser. page:123 "Bruno what do you mean, you've seen them", asked Father.
"I go over to the fence practically every day to talk to a boy who lives there", said Bruno. "What is this boys name", asked Father. "His name is Shmuel, and Gretel says he's a fancy name called Jew", said Bruno. "You must never speak to this boy ever again, or you could get your family in a lot of trouble", said Father. "He's my best friend Father", exclaims Bruno! "Would you like to end up on the other side of that fence", Father yells! Bruno goes quite for a moment. "May I be excused please", asks Bruno rather timidly. "Yes, leave now and remember what I've told you", says Father. "And not a word of this to anyone", said Father. Text-to-Self: In this chapter bruno faces some hard times. He receives some upsetting news that his Grandmother had died, he finds out that he really shouldn't be near Shmuel, and he has life and is forced to shave is head. Everyone hits rough patches in life, but some worse than others. When my Great Uncle Tom died it really affected me. We didn't see each other very often, but when we did he always showed a certain charisma. His presence made everyone smile and I will never forget him. These moments in life are hard, but it is important to find the silver lining within the gray cloud.
Text-to-Text: In this chapter Bruno learns why he is separated from the people on the fence. It is because they are Jews and he is not, so they can not be near each other. He doesn't know why, but he knows it's wrong. Sadly, we are always critiqued, By the people that we know, By title or occupation, And by the possessions that we show. We judge by skin color, Or by awards received. By church domination And by what we believe. We’re judged by what we spend, Or by what we give. We’re judged by age and gender, And by where we live. We’re judged by our past, And by our education, By the language we speak, Or by our nation. We evaluate cosmetically. We judge both fat and small. We judge by one’s appearance. Fact is we judge it all! Some judge because they’re paid to. Some judge intentionally. Some judge to build self worth, Some judge unwillingly. Beware, for there is only one, Who evaluates every stain and smudge. Good luck amateur critics of humanity, When you face that judge! Text-to-Society: Segregation is a big problem in the world. Many people are treated differently for their race and skin color. In this case the jews are being separated from everyone else. They are being separated based on their beliefs which is not right. |
